Made at the Glamorgan Pottery between 1813 and 1839, this moulded earthenware jug is transfer-printed in underglaze black. Helen Hallesy, in her 1995 book on the Glamorgan Pottery, describes "the 'Glamorgan' shape jug, which occurs in many sizes, [having] the following characteristics: scalloped rim with ornate scroll moulding beneath the spout and handle, gadrooned decoration around the rim and shoulders, with a scroll handle and thumb rests." (p.53) This jug is marked with 'Opaque China' over 'B. B. & I.' (Baker, Bevans & Irwin), printed iin black.
