From Ancient Greece, a black-glazed oinochoe used for pouring wine. This example stands on a high stem and has a single high handle. The jug is decorated with intricate banded patterns of leaves, etc. in red, yellow and white. The classical collections in Swansea Museum date from at least the nineteenth century. Many of the Greek and Roman artefacts were collected by John Henry Vivian (1785 - 1855) of Singleton Abbey.
