| FRIENDS TALKS AND LECTURE PROGRAMME
There are several ways the Friends encourage and support heritage in the arts locally. These including a regular monthly programme of talks, which are held in the gallery starting in the autumn and running through to the following summer. Each year we have a range of different expert speakers who could be art critics, historians or artists who give illustrated talks on art related topics which range from contemporary and historical, local and global or relate to exhibitions in the gallery. There are also lectures that we arrange on an annual basis in conjunction with other local groups who are interested in the arts: The Swansea Festival Lecture in early October has a musical theme to it and there is also a Festival Exhibition held in the gallery that we normally support financially. The following month there is a gallery event that is linked to the Swansea Dylan Thomas Festival. These two events as well as the talk that is in association with the
National Art Collections Fund are ticketed, but all the others are FREE
to members including the talk in association with the Department of History,
University of Wales, Swansea; which alternates annually between the Glynn
Vivian Art Gallery and University. |
